The late Emmett Hart established Mountville Mills in 1963 in a small building just outside of LaGrange, Georgia. Hart worked at Callaway Mills for 15 years in the design and development departments before starting his own company with the encouragement of his wife, Nancy.
Emmett and Nancy were among the first seven employees of Mountville Mills. Today, the family-owned business, headed by Nancy and Emmett’s son David Hart, maintains more than 640,000 square-feet in manufacturing plants, and more than 500 employees across North America and Europe.
Mountville Mills first expanded by joining forces with The Andersen Company in Dalton, Georgia in 1999. In 2005, Mountville expanded its operations to Ronse, Belgium, where it maintains a manufacturing and sales facility to service the mat needs of its European customers. In 2008, Mountville acquired the North American business unit of Kleen-Tex Industries, Inc. Additional members of the Mountville family include Mountville Mills Rubber Company, Logo Mats LLC, Bungalow Flooring, and Purple Mustard. In 2018, the textile rental division of Mountville Mills and The Andersen Company merged to form M+A Matting which serves both U.S. and Canadian customers.
